In supporting the strategic goals of the association and Region 6 members I would attempt to:
Support Region 6 membership activities with continual review of social media and other technology platforms for sharing scholarly activities at our institutions.
Review yearly the Communication Plan that will assist Region 6 to use the various technology platforms effectively to meet the needs of the Association and support the membership.
Provide funding for local and regional professional development opportunities in ways that meet the needs of the membership in each state and province with input from the state and provinces liaisons.

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
I would like to share 2 accomplishments completed in this past year.
The successful completion of the 2017 Region 6 Conference in Winnipeg and my membership of the NACADA Task Force on Core Values. Taking on the 2017 Region 6 Conference Chair role was a very rewarding experience and the success of the conference was a wonderful accomplishment for me but also for the conference organization committee.  My role was to listen, manage, support and encourage others, be creative, reach out for advice, but make the final decisions when required.  The accomplishment of having a successful conference was reflected in our evaluation responses, having a positive budget outcome and by managing the many tasks involved in running the conference.
The 2nd accomplishment was the opportunity to be a member of the NACADA Task Force on Core Values. This team worked hard at rethinking academic advising cores values.  What are they?   Each member reached out to the membership at Region and International...

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? (1500 characters or less)
My first volunteer leadership role was with the Region Steering committee in 2009.   Region 6 members became a wonderful group of friends and colleagues.   This experience and my past experiences within NACADA is why I want to serve in this role.   I want to give back to Region 6 the support I received and provide leadership for the ongoing development of our Region 6 programming.   Region 6 members transcend an international border, this is an opportunity as well as a challenge.  Creating meaningful connections by using State and Provincial liaisons will realize the strategic mission of NACADA.  Providing for knowledge exchange of best practices will assist in professional development.  Personally, reaching out  and listening to the needs of the membership would be one of my most important starting points of my term.  An early step as Region Chair would be to work with the state and provincial liaisons to identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and any challenges.   This would...

Platform Statement: Part IV

4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
The promotion and enhancement of an inclusive culture requires open conversations and feedback from under represented groups and members who contribute to the diversity of our advising community.  I would propose more intensive use of social media, workshops at conferences, and newsletter style articles at each level of our Region membership. The conversation could also include Round Table Open Discussions at Region conferences.
