Commission Chairs are elected by their Commission members and provide leadership for Commission activities in support of the profession by representing its members and their needs and concerns through the Division Representatives and communicating with the members. Commission Chairs coordinate commission activities and lead Commission meetings during the Annual Conference. Commission Chairs report to the Division Representatives for the Commission and Interest Group Division (CIGD). Multicultural Concerns Chair - (elected, term October 2018 - October 2020). Prior to taking office, candidates must have completed the previous year as a member in the Commission and be a current member in that group.

Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? (1500 characters or less)
Start a bi-monthly (every two months) question that would be submitted to the List-Serv (or Facebook Page) to keep and spark attention towards current issues relative to advising students, from diverse cultures, to enhance thought for academic, personal, and profession success.

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
Provided an overview/training session to Academic Advisors and Administrators about the Washington State University (WSU) OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) software.  Went over ‘Pre-Built’ reports and queries that WSU has created, along with going over how to create individual reports and queries.  Provided confidence training so the beginning users would not feel intimidated by the software.  As a leader, it is not only providing the direction, but also providing the information and know-how on how to get things accomplished.

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? (1500 characters or less)
Obtain my BA Degree in Comparative Ethnic Studies, it focused a thought:  How do different groups interact (or not interact) with other groups and why; are their specific commonalities or differences that create a line.

4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
Show and Tell!  Remind that we need to remember and learn from the past, to get a better understanding of today, to provide the information to the future.  By providing an avenue to discuss items that are occurring today, but not to forget about past issues that are relevant, to help provide a better understanding for future items of discussion.
