Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? (1500 characters or less)
If elected to the position of Finance Chair, I hope to lead the Finance Committee in creating strategic goals for the committee and align them with the association.  Specifically, I would like the team to create a basic informational video on what the Finance Committee does for the organization, strengthen diversity on the Finance Committee and also continue to lead the committee in fundraising for scholarships.  As the co-chair of the inaugural scholarship fundraiser at the Annual Conference (2017), I believe this is a fun and interactive way for NACADA to move forward in raising funds for assisting advising. In addition, I believe that the Finance Committee has an obligation to inform members, through the association guidelines, of how we support them. I would like to encourage the team to come up with a simple info-graphic to show this to the membership or to include it in the current “By the Numbers” info-graphic.

Platform Statement: Part II

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
As a part of the Finance Committee for NACADA, I am most proud that I was able to co-chair the inaugural fundraising event at the annual conference.  While the event was small and intimate, it lead to a fun gathering that was able to raise funds for the NACADA Scholarship Fund.  I am so happy to be able to contribute to the organization in this way.  I know without scholarships, many people wouldn’t be able to attend great professional development events through NACADA.  I look forward to this event continuing for many years at the annual conference!

Platform Statement: Part III

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? (1500 characters or less)
I am interested in serving as Chair for the Finance Committee for several reasons.  Having served on the Finance Committee since 2015, has given me a real insight to how NACADA works.  This past year I had the pleasure of chairing the inaugural fundraiser that took place at the annual conference, it was a fun and intimate event that raised money for scholarships for our membership!  I am committed to working with the Board and Executive Office to further NACADA’s investment in professional development for members.

Platform Statement: Part IV

4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
I will continue to promote inclusivity throughout the association. As a past mentee in the Emerging Leader Program and as Chair of the Small College and Universities Commission (soon to be Advising Community), I can see how important being inclusive and having a voice at the table really is!  As part of the Finance Committee, I hope to lead the committee to create a permanent spot for international institution representative and have the committee discuss the membership of the committee so we can strategically add membership to the group that would enhance its activities.

Past Involvement in NACADA

5. Outline your past involvement in NACADA:
     a. Years in NACADA
     b. National Offices Help and Accomplishments Achieved

My involvement in NACADA is varied.  I have been a member of NACADA since 2011.  I have presented at the Annual Conference in 2012, 2013(2), 2014, 2016 and 2017(2).  Two of my presentations have been selected as commission sponsored sessions.  I have also presented at the region and state level on multiple occasions.  In addition, I have co-authored an article for the NACADA Clearinghouse.  Further, I am a graduate of the Emerging Leader Program (2016) and a recipient of the Outstanding Advisor Award-Primary Role (2012).  I have served on the Finance Committed since 2015 and am the Small Colleges and University Commission Chair through 2018.
