Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? (1500 characters or less)
If elected to the Regional Division Representative position, I would work with the Region Chairs to develop a strategic process that could be implemented in the Regions to support leadership development.  This process would foster inclusive practices and enhance opportunities for professional development across, not just within, the Regions.

Platform Statement: Part II

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
My greatest accomplishment within NACADA was serving as the Region 7 Chair.   Under my leadership, Region 7 showed an increase and consistency with involvement and representation from all states on the steering committee.  Louisiana for a number of years struggled due to natural disaster and state budget cuts which limited or prevented professional development opportunities for most academic advisors in that state.  As Region 7 Chair, I was able to identify and work closely with Louisiana colleagues and members of the steering committee to ensure we brought the 2015 Regional conference to Louisiana and sustained our regional conference rotation.  The conference and opportunity for connecting with others helped ignite a spark which resulted in the revitalization of the Louisiana state association.

During my leadership term as Region chair, we expanded our membership and also increased attendance representation from every state in our region at the Regional meeting at the NACADA Annual...

Platform Statement: Part III

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? (1500 characters or less)
My involvement in NACADA and the colleagues I met who mentored me or I mentored, guided me to realize that serving as the Regional Division Representative would be an ideal way for me to support and give back to the organization.  I believe in NACADA’s mission and vision.  If given the opportunity to be in this leadership position it will enable me to make a difference; to support our regional leaders; and the organization.

Platform Statement: Part IV

4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
As Regional Division Representative, I would work with the team of Region Chairs to continue strengthening the collaboration, sharing, and developing of best practices so we are able to enhance inclusivity and provide additional leadership opportunities at and within the Regions.  We would evaluate current practices in the regions and develop strategies to enhance opportunities for more leadership and professional development at the regional levels.  In addition, I would be working to mentor and support them in their current position and their future goals.
