Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? (1500 characters or less)
I would assess the needs of the region members by surveying during our Region meetings to plan for future needs (research, involvement, etc.).  Immediately after Annual Conference in October, would send out a 10 question survey asking their top three reasons for attending Annual, Regional, and/or State Conference.

Additionally ask, the most important topic the region can provide to their members.  As Region Chair, I would like to increase member involvement in Emerging Leaders Program and other leadership opportunities.  As Region Chair, I would gather a list of new members and work with the Region 4 Mentoring Program Coordinator to encourage them to apply for the Region Mentoring Program and/or NACADA ELP program and mentees.  I would also encourage members who have been in leadership position, state, region, and national level to apply as mentors.

Last would review Region Budget to investigate and review how budget money is spent and try to offer more funding opportunities to...

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
Auburn University has provided me the opportunity to serve on various committee to be the voice of our academic advisors on our campus.  This has allowed me to assist with improved policies to align with NACADA’s Strategic Goals with the academic advisor’s needs in mind.  I am proud that I get to serve as an advocate for Auburn Academic Advisors.

As 2014 Region 4 Conference Co-Chair, I worked with the host committee to promote and market our conference which led to one of the highest attended region 4 conferences in recent region history.  Also was able to think out of the box and offer various experiences to showcase Auburn University and the town of Auburn.

These accomplishments demonstrate my ability to be a servant leader, an advocate, and appreciate the ideas of my team who I get work with.

Platform Statement: Part III

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? (1500 characters or less)
I have experienced the importance of being on the forefront of student needs in higher education as a new advisor, I have benefitted greatly from NACADA resources.  Since being a member of NACADA and the ability to network with many individuals at the state, regional, and national levels this has influenced me to want to run for the Region 4 Chair position.

As Region 4 Chair, I would like to take the opportunity to assist others in locating and connecting those resources to help become better advisors/administrators, build a wider professional network, and the find their place/niche within the association.

Platform Statement: Part IV

4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
With my previous experience as 2014 Region Conference Co-Chair and 2016 Annual Conference Exhibitor Chair, being inclusive was always something that was in the forefront during planning and execution of task.  One way I would enhance inclusivity is to actively promote the Advising Community (Formally Commissions and Interest Groups) during the Regional and State Conferences.  I would also seek out representatives from many of those groups to assist with submission of proposals and awards for region conferences, and also encourage those members to host community meetings during our Region Conferences.  Possibly on a two rotation due to the large number of communities (over 22 advising communities).  One idea that I have been toying with is an advising communities representative, who position would be to investigate members of these groups, identify how overall inclusive our region is, ask members of these communities for suggestions to enhance our region inclusivity.
