Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? (1500 characters or less)
In this position, I would like to focus on hands-on trainings and tools that can help us all move forward in these strategic goals. Sustaining effective association leadership takes intentional actions and strategies for each leadership role.  A best practice document could be very helpful to give others ideas on how to accomplish this goal.  Providing professional development opportunities, which meets the needs of our members, can be accomplished through assessment, reaching out through our communities, and partnering with the Professional Development Committee for this purpose.  I am a very practical person and love to give tools we can all use to improve our work.

Platform Statement: Part II

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
I am proud of the work that I have accomplished as part of my roles in the division, specifically my work in providing ZOOM meetings for my community as well as the work in providing assistance coordinating the training for community chairs at the annual conference.
I am extremely blessed to work with amazing people and with their assistance have been able to take the Advising Community on Transfer Students to a new level via the ZOOM platform.  The ZOOM discussions have allowed NACADA members free professional development, allowed us all to keep current on research in the field, and provided key networking opportunities.  Increasing the opportunities through this platform is a new goal on a large number of post- annual reports for other communities and am excited to see where this will take us as an organization.
Lastly, I was thrilled to be a part of the working group to coordinate the training for incoming chairs at the annual conference.  The relationships built through this experience...

Platform Statement: Part III

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? (1500 characters or less)
As an association, NACADA is growing every year.  The Advising Communities Division is one of the main entry points in which to connect.  I am interested in serving in this role to strengthen those connections, enhance the community chairs as leaders, and assist NACADA in moving forward their strategic goals.  I am also interested in this position to further my own leadership skills.  A structured career ladder does not exist in my institution and this opportunity would enhance my own professional development and provide that which is not available on my current campus.

Platform Statement: Part IV

4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
As a leader in NACADA, it will be my goal to promote inclusivity in the organization.  I believe this is something we need to add to the chair training at the annual conference.  In the work that we do, we are communicating to others in a variety of ways.  Promoting inclusivity can come through language, representation, online materials, and overall accessibility in the communications pieces that we send or make available.  I would love to create a training and add elements to the chair handbook to get others to begin thinking inclusively and making our work accessible to a larger amount of members.
