Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? (1500 characters or less)
If elected as the Advising Communities Division Representative, I would focus my efforts on the following areas:
1. I hope to expand the diversity of the leadership within the advising communities division. It is already among the most diverse areas of NACADA and I hope to increase participation through intentional discussion with and recruitment of diverse leaders.
2. The Advising Communities Division has made great strides in improving the training of incoming, continuing, and outgoing leaders. Having been a part of steering committees and a former Commission Chair, I have several ideas on how to further improve the transition and training efforts of the division.

Platform Statement: Part II

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
I served as co-chair for our professional development committee for two years on campus and helped develop our professional development plan.  The program gives advisors on our campus a framework to improve their talents as academic advisors regardless of college or department. These efforts are recognized by our vice provost to department leadership to increase recognition of the efforts of individual advisors regardless of professional development funding. I am particularly proud of this effort because it champions advising amongst campus leadership.

Platform Statement: Part III

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? (1500 characters or less)
Being part of the advising communities has shaped my involvement in NACADA leadership and I would like to give back to the group that helped me get started on my leadership path.

Platform Statement: Part IV

4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
Intentional recruitment of diverse leadership is the only way I feel that NACADA will enhance inclusivity throughout the organization. I would like to reach out to members that are not necessarily present during annual conferences and may not be the typical “leaders” that NACADA would encourage to volunteer.

Platform Statement: Part V

5. Outline your past involvement in NACADA:
     a. Years in NACADA
     b. National Offices Help and Accomplishments Achieved

Years in NACADA: 9 years
