4. Please describe how you will work to promote the enhancement of inclusivity throughout (or within) the association. (1500 characters or less)
I have been fortunate to make substantial contributions to high-profile teaching and learning initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion. As an Academic and Career Advisor at Northwest Indian College and previously as a Faculty Advisor at other institutions , I have served on several curriculum development committees and outreach programs where we focused on improving inclusion and representations of historically underrepresented communities. I consulted with faculty as they redesigned their courses. Some of the most exciting included first-year Native American Studies, African American Studies and Asian American Studies courses; these faculty engaged freshmen in structured research with primary sources to help them understand the construction of ethnicity and history. My role was to consult on the development of exciting, strong research assignments, then study the impact of course transformations with faculty.
