2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? (1500 characters or less)
I helped create a parent orientation program at the University of Maryland and it has proven itself over the last 2 years to be quite beneficial to both advisors and parents. The parents enjoy being able to put a face to a name that their student talks about as well as having a general overview of what their student is getting into over the next 4 years.
I believe this shows great initiative. Being part of the steering committee for Orientation at UMD, we saw a need to include parents in the programming, but how to do it was not clear. Being able to see an issues and help work through it, was a great opportunity for me to create programming on my campus.
