Platform Statement: Part I
1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? Recently NACADA announced their new vision, mission and strategic goals of the organization. The Administrative Division plays a key role in the implementation of these strategic goals. Each Chair plays a direct or indirect role in ensuring each and every goal. As a Division Representative I would want to work on clearly articulating how we are meeting each goal both within our own individual committees and advisory boards, as well as a collective. In addition, I would want to work on ensuring close ties within each group to ensure consistency, transparency, and to reduce redundancies. In our last meeting, we discussed looking at each group associated with the Administrative Division, its history, and future within NACADA. I think this is a large, but important task. I would like to support and champion helping to ensure the Administrative Division is striving to help NACADA meet its strategic goals.

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader?
There are two things that I am most proud of, both related to my involvement in NACADA. The first is as it relates to my professional experience. In my previous role, I was promoted from Coordinator of Academic Advising to Director of Student Success. This involved creating and implementing a new Student Success Centre at a comprehensive university. I feel that it was my experiences with NACADA, the best practices I was exposed to, as well as the resources I gained as a member that helped prepare me for this position. Working on creating a new Student Success Centre, the experiences I gained, and the knowledge I obtained has helped to propel my career forward and has built up skills, helping me to deal more effectively with my staff, my students, and with my own professional growth.
The second accomplishment I am most proud of was being accepted as a mentor as part of the Emerging Leader program. My experiences as a leader in this program irrevocably changed me, both personally and professionally....

The second accomplishment I am most proud of was being accepted as a mentor as part of the Emerging Leader program. My experiences as a leader in this program irrevocably changed me, both personally and professionally. Having the opportunity to now work with an emerging leader in NACADA has been humbling and rewarding. I think one of the most important aspects of being a leader is being an effective listener, and understanding that your point of view may not always be the most effective way to accurately deal with each situation and each individual. Being able to work with someone so closely, and assisting with their professional development has impacted me in my own growth, both personally and professionally.

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
My involvement in NACADA has always been at the organizational level. As a result, this has been the area I am most interested in working in. My experiences within NACADA has affected who I am personally, and as a professional. Because of this, I feel strongly about the organization, its future and the role I want to play. Through my role as Chair of the Diversity Committee, I was able to gain perspective on the "inner workings" of NACADA, broaden my network and feel a connection to the organization that is rare. What influenced me to run for this position was twofold. With my position of Chair coming to a close, I was thinking of next steps of my leadership plan, and how I wanted to become involved next. At this year's past annual conference, as part of the Administrative Division meeting, we had a presentation regarding the strategic goals and how to start the outcomes process in our respective committees and advisory boards. I found this meeting to be extremely informative and it helped to direct an engaging, purposeful and rewarding Diversity Committee meeting. It was after that experience that I realized I wanted to run for the Administrative Division and work on brining more experiences like that to the Division, leading to energetic and engaged committee and advisory boards.
