Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association?
I think the responsibilities of this position and the strategic goals of NACADA are fully aligned. While in this position I plan to bring the voice of the Regions to the Council, in terms of budget support and planning, Regional needs, concerns of the Region Chairs and in any way that is supportive of both the Regions and NACADAs strategic goals. I hope to be able to work with the Region Chairs to foster programs and initiatives that expand the knowledge of academic advising and NACADA within the regions, strengthen our regional professional development opportunities, and assist in ongoing assessment efforts within the regions. I look forward to being part of the team that helps to develop and sustain Association leadership.

Platform Statement: Part II

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader?
I have been proud of many of my accomplishments as a NACADA leader, and as a leader on my campus. I would say that I am most proud of the work that I have done as Chair of Region 1 and while a member of the NACADA Board of Directors. Both positions offered challenges and opportunities. As Chair of Region 1 I was able to redefine our Regional Leadership structure, creating a sustainable leadership team, new regional by-laws, and a leadership development program. I am most proud of this work as it has set the foundation for the many strong leaders that currently serve in Region 1, and provides a framework for those who will follow. What I believe this demonstrates about my abilities as a leader is my strong conviction in the volunteer leadership of our organization. I work hard for NACADA because I believe in our goals, our mission and the values set forth by the organization, and relied on those beliefs to strengthen our regional leadership and Region 1. I hope to bring this strength and...

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I am interested in serving in this leadership position because I believe strongly in service to NACADA. I started my relationship with the organization on the regional level and have served myriad positions within the organization. I believe that my strengths lie in service to the regions - while Region 1 Chair and while on the Board of Directors. While in Region 1 I served my region and learned of the role of other regions. While on the Board of Directors my vision expanded to all of NACADA - and I learned how our different regions interact and that the strength of our organization stems from the combined strength of ALL of our regions. An opportunity to serve the regions would be a great honor.
