2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader?
In addition to being an Academic Advisor in the First Year of Studies at the University of Notre Dame, I also serve as the Senior Leadership Liaison for Academic Programs in the Balfour-Hesburgh Scholars Program. Two years ago, the Balfour Program adopted a “blended advising model” (Ambrose & Ambrose, 2013) and piloted the use of eportfolios at Notre Dame. I was one of few advisors on campus using eportfolio technology to deepen student engagement within academic advising and classroom contexts. Through eportfolios, Balfour Scholars document personal development, major and career exploration, community engagement, research initiatives, and progress in meeting university and departmental learning outcomes.
The success I had using eportfolios led to the development of a “Learning Self-Assessment through ePortfolio” course, where students develop their eportfolios while being guided in the assessment of their own learning goals and outcomes. Also, I am co-instructor for an “Introduction...

Also, I am co-instructor for an “Introduction to Research Process at Notre Dame” course in which students use eportfolios to document their research exploration, understanding of research ethics, methods, and processes, as well as develop their individual research projects or creative endeavors. My willingness to be one of the first advisors to use eportfolios on our campus demonstrates the innovation, commitment and vision needed to be a leader within the field of academic advising.
