Platform Statement: Part I
1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? I would try and elevate the DE commission to be one of the dominate commissions within NACADA.
Platform Statement: Part II
2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? At my previous institution, I supervised our local advising organization's annual symposium. My first year co-directing it we were able to bring in advisors from outside our university. The next few years these numbers increased and we moved the event off-campus, to accommodate the increase in attendance. This accomplishment shows I am able to think outside the box and try include as many people as possible. Bringing in outside ideas and perspectives were valuable additions to the symposium and offered us new insight to how to do things.
Platform Statement: Part III
3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? I have a passion for both working with distance-based students and leadership development. The DE commission needs to have more visibility as over the next few years the number of distance-based students will out number traditional, on-campus students.
Past Involvement in NACADA
4. Outline your past involvement in NACADA:
a. Years in NACADA
b. National Offices Help and Accomplishments Achieved
c. Regional Activities/Offices Held, including accomplishments achieved in office
d. Etc.
I have been in NACADA for about the last 5 years, off and on. I have never held a national office, but I have presented a few times at the National Convention. This would be my first time holding an office but I have experience planning conferences and working with numerous people.
