Platform Statement: Part I

1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association?
My goal is to continue great support and communication within the region.  I would like to increase participation of membership involvement within region 6.  We are a large region that is very diverse in representation  and size of area covered.  The size of the region makes it difficult to sometimes get large participation or group involvement.   I would like to reach out to undeserved areas to have larger representation from the entire region.  My goal is also to keep in mind the diversity of institutions represented in the region to ensure participation and that all have clear representation. I would like to support a Webinar for this region.  We are to large for drive in conference participation but this would be a way that many could participate in a regional discussion.

Platform Statement: Part II

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader?
As the Small College and University Commission Chair I sponsored a social gathering at National in Salt Lake, 2013.  This social gathering was very well attended and all involved then attended the Commission Meeting.  At the Commission Meeting we all got active and are now in the process of creating a Facebook page and a Steering Committee.  This is all new to this commission.  Most people who attend national from Small Colleges and Universities travel alone.  This group outing and bonding went very far in building community and much more active involvement.  We also had a large increase in proposals submitted by this Commission for the 2013 conference.  This was from actively reaching out to Commission members.

Platform Statement: Part III

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
As someone who just graduated from the Emerging Leaders Program this is exactly the kind of leadership position I envisioned myself serving in.   I have served the past two years as the Small College Commission Chair with great interaction and enthusiasm.  I have been involved in the region and I have a very good read on needs of this region. I must say that Amy Sammes has had a huge influence on my involvement.  She has been such a great leader.  Her high energy and dedication is something I can aspire to.

Past Involvement in NACADA

4. Outline your past involvement in NACADA:
     a. Years in NACADA
     b. National Offices Help and Accomplishments Achieved
     c. Regional Activities/Offices Held, including accomplishments achieved in office
     d. Etc.

I have been very active and involved in NACADA for over the past 15 years.  I am a seasoned presenter at both National Conferences and Regional Conferences.  I have presented every other year for the past 15 years.

Activities and Leadership:

Emerging Leadership 2011-2013
Scholarship Winner Summer Institute, Assessment Institute, Commission Chair as fill in for International Students and Diversity Commission, Commission Chair for Small Colleges and University Commission.

Very proud of my active engagement in NACADA.  My breadth of experience could be of great assistance to the leadership withing region 6.  I look forward to the opportunity.
