1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association?
NACADA's strategic goals are the backbone of the different aspects of our association. Regional Divisions are particularly set to nurture and build upon the strategic goals of communicating of the scholarship of advising, providing development opportunities for our members, while promoting the success of advising across our institutions and sustaining effective NACADA association leadership. I feel that Regional involvement is a vital link between members and the association; many times Regional and Allied Conferences are the first exposure our members and potential members have with NACADA.
As Region Chair it will be my responsibility to foster these goals at the Region 6 level. Our region has wonderfully expanded the awards available to celebrate and promote the success of our members; with the addition of the Advising Innovation Award and the Service to Region award. Also, Region 6 proudly will be hosting NACADA's 2014 Conference in Minneapolis. This gives us a unique opportunity...

Also, Region 6 proudly will be hosting NACADA's 2014 Conference in Minneapolis. This gives us a unique opportunity to not only show our "Midwestern" hospitality but be poised to gain many new members from across our region and across institutional types and areas. I would increase the support of our Region 6 members by taking advantage of the Annual Conference momentum and develop a mentor/leaders program within our Region. My goal, with the help our Region 6 Steering Committee and the guidance of the of the amazing leadership we already have in our Region, as celebrated by our new and future award recipients; will be to develop mentor/leadership relationships with current and new members who would like to get involved with NACADA. This will directly strengthen NACADA's strategic goal of developing leadership not only within our region but within NACADA .

2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader? I was very lucky to have a wonderful mentor introduce me to NACADA. And was encouraged to start involvement within the association very early; my first Annual Conference I presented a pre-conference workshop. After being involved as a presenter for many years I wanted to move towards a leadership role. I was accepted to the Emerging Leaders Program for 2012-2014. As part of the ELP program have assessed what I can contribute to NACADA and how to start that process. I have become a member of the Membership and STEM steering committees. As for accomplishments on my campus I am being recognized this year as a First Year Champion, an honor only eligible by student nomination. Student nomination mean more in my eyes than any other award could...

3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? Our Region is rich in producing NACADA leaders, including several NACADA Presidents. I feel very honored to be nominated for this position and start my role as part of this leadership tradition. The ELP program allowed me to see the potential of what an individual difference can make to the association. I would like to continue that work.
