Platform Statement: Part I
1. If elected to this position, what will you attempt to accomplish that will help to meet the strategic goals of the Association? I will continue working with the NACADA EO and members of the Technology Board to provide feedback and suggestions on how the Association may best make use of technology to serve the EO and NACADA members.
Platform Statement: Part II
2. Describe an accomplishment on your own campus or within NACADA of which you are proud. What do you believe your accomplishment demonstrates about your abilities as a leader?
Being one of the founding members of the weekly Academic Advising Chat on Twitter is something in which I still take pride, nearly four years after getting it up and running. Growing my professional network, learning, and giving back to the advising profession were my primary reasons for joining NACADA, and also the motivation behind starting the advising chat. The weekly chat gathering brings together advising colleagues from all over North America, providing a great opportunity for alternative professional development.
As a founding member, I helped establish the framework on which the chat is built: the process of picking a topic, how the chat would be moderated, the tools the leadership team would use to collaborate, when and where the chat would be held, recruitment of others to the leadership team, and many other details required to keep the chat going. Planning, team-building, creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work under strict deadlines were skills that all of the founding...

Planning, team-building, creativity, flexibility, and the ability to work under strict deadlines were skills that all of the founding members had to possess to establish the chat. It speaks to the good work and dedication of all those involved that we are still going strong after well over 110 hour-long chats.
Platform Statement: Part III
3. Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position? The current committee chair, George Steele, encouraged me to serve. I have tremendous respect for George, and have learned much from him, both in the context of serving on the Technology Committee, and in my broader interactions with him. Chairing the Committee will allow me both to continue to grow professionally, and to give back to NACADA as an organization. I have gained so much from being a NACADA member; seeing how NACADA members encourage and mentor those with less experience has made me wish to contribute.
