Abstract:
|
Experienced academic advisors often lead without formal titles: mentoring colleagues, shaping practice, and supporting change from within established teams. This reflection-based session explores informal leadership through the lens of Woody's journey in Toy Story, examining how seasoned advisors navigate shifting roles and team dynamics while remaining grounded in purpose and connection. Framed by Tuckman's Stages of Group Development, the presentation highlights how leadership from the middle emerges differently across stages of team development and how advisors can respond intentionally at each stage. Emphasizing guided individual reflection, the session invites participants to examine their leadership identity, influence, and values. Attendees will leave with a personalized understanding of how to lead from the middle in ways that foster inclusion, strengthen relationships, and connect people, purpose, and possibility. |
