Abstract:
|
Individuals with disabilities are often viewed differently
than other marginalized groups; their experience is frequently described
as 'suffering' or 'managing' with little emphasis on the positive
qualities that disabled folks, as well as accommodations designed for
disabled folks, bring to our communities. This presentation will focus
on overcoming internalized ableism and emphasizing Disability Pride,
with special emphasis on making our campus environments welcoming and
celebratory of the wide variety of disabilities in our spaces. |
