Abstract:
|
Leader rounding is a powerful yet simple leadership practice in academic advising that strengthens employee engagement, trust, and workplace culture when implemented with intention. This session explores how advising leaders can move beyond informal check-ins to establish structured, people-first leader rounding that surfaces advisor voice and drives meaningful action. Participants will learn how to design effective rounding conversations, create simple documentation logs, and synthesize insights into clear summaries that communicate both wins and areas for development to executive and institutional leadership. The presentation also addresses how leader rounding can inform authentic reward and recognition practices that reinforce values and morale. Ultimately, this session offers practical tools, examples, and strategies participants can immediately adapt to their own teams to build engaged, high-performing advising environments. Examples highlighted are from a two-year large, urban community college setting. |
