Abstract:

Advisors the Champions of connecting in the messy middle with the Student with OCD
Research indicates that around 32% of college students have anxiety disorders with 5% of college students being diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Of all the anxiety disorders OCD is considered the least understood of mental health conditions on campus. Yet the life demands of college can trigger or intensify symptoms. It hides behind grades, withdrawn behavior, even dedication or quirkiness, all the time the depth of distress experienced by the student is missed. Advisors are quick to detect when a student is struggling. Come and sharpen your skills in recognizing, supporting and providing possibilities for students with OCD in your college. |
