The Silent Talent: Introverts in Academic Advising
'Why don't we go around the room and introduce ourselves.'
'Give the room one fun fact about yourself!'
If these statements give you microscopic heart palpitations, this session is for you!
Higher education is home to many academic advisors. Being an advisor is a non-linear spectrum that ranges from extroverts to introverts. Specifically, introverts find themselves 're-charging' their social battery after lengthy meetings, conversations, or presentations. Introverts bring unique perspectives to not only their advising team, but also the students they serve. This session will align introverted behaviors and skills to NACADA's core values, explore personal advising tools and methods, and inspire introverts to feel confident in the advising process. This presentation targets new and veteran advisors within any higher education institution. |
