Abstract:
|
First-year students often enter college with linear, rigid thinking in their approach to choosing a major, future career, and overall college experience. This session will provide strategies for advisors to help students move beyond linear thinking and into creativity: empowering them to consider a broader range of possibilities based on their interests, values, and skills. This session will discuss how to de-mystify common misconceptions, provide opportunity to collaborate on strategies for encouraging creative thinking, and demonstrate tools to help students utilize prior experiences, build networks, and foster a growth mindset. These strategies provide effective frameworks for advisors to help students define success and take ownership of their education with confidence and creativity. |
