Abstract:
|
As technology becomes increasingly central to how students navigate academic goals and how advisors support them, the need for authentic human connection has never been more important. But how do we effectively communicate our care amid the whirlwind of emails, notifications, and reminders competing for students' attention?
This session explores how intentional, student-centered email outreach can serve as both a communication strategy and a meaningful expression of advisor care. Presenters from the University of Michigan's Engineering Advising Center, which supports first-year undergraduate students, will share how targeted outreach initiatives helped increase student engagement through advising appointments, support students facing academic challenges, and guide students through the transition of major declaration.
Participants will leave this session with actionable, practical communication strategies that can be easily adapted to their own advising spaces to enhance student engagement efforts. |
