Abstract:
|
During a time when students and advisors alike rely more heavily on technology to achieve their goals, it is critical that we center genuine connections with our students to establish a foundation of care and support. But how do we effectively communicate our care to students amid the whirlwind of emails, notifications, and reminders competing for their attention?
In this session, we will discuss three unique email outreach initiatives that encourage first-year engineering students to engage with advisors in meaningful ways. This includes initiatives focused on increasing student engagement through appointments, personalized support for students facing academic challenges, and intentional communication for students transitioning to a new advisor.
Participants will leave this session with actionable and practical communication strategies that can be easily adapted to their own advising spaces to enhance student engagement efforts. |
