Abstract:
|
How many times have you heard from a student, "I'll take whatever is easiest," "What do you think I should minor in," or asked a student a question only to be met with "I don't know, whatever you think is best." Students often look to their advisors to make important decisions about their degree plans and career paths, decisions that students are ultimately responsible for and should take ownership of. In this session, we will discuss the roles of the advisor and student and build advisor confidence in developing student ownership. Attendees can expect to leave with tools and techniques that will give them the confidence to "let go of the wheel" and get students involved in their own degree planning, thereby empowering students to take ownership of their degree plans and career paths. |
