Abstract:
|
One of the most important aspects of student retention in higher education is establishing a sense of belonging. In the pursuit of this goal, our four-year music program has instituted a pre-major program which allows non-admitted students to participate with majors during freshman orientation and in certain first-year music classes. Additionally, they receive specialized advising by our music advisors and are enrolled in a year-long course designed to promote major and career exploration. This poster presentation will evaluate the effectiveness of these measures on student retention and recruitment into our college. |
