Abstract:
|
This session takes a deep dive into a student success and retention program that the presenters implemented at their home institution five years ago. The program requires students on academic suspension to participate in a semester-long series of workshops and interactions with the academic affairs staff of the college office, and complete weekly study hours in the academic affairs office. The program has been very successful, with participating students being twice as likely to return to good academic standing than nonparticipants reenrolling after suspension. The presentation outlines the creation and evolution of the program, implementation challenges, and future aims for enhancing and expanding the program. The session will conclude with a generative discussion among all participants to apply this model to local contexts and identify common challenges to overcome. |
