Abstract:
|
Administrators are not typically recognized for their direct involvement in advising. However, this presentation will illustrate how one newly appointed dean has established a culture of relational and academic advising within the school. This lecture will begin by explaining the need to belong and social learning theories, and how the dean applies these theoretical concepts to create a culture of relational and academic advising. Next, the presenter will share practical examples of efficient yet impactful events that have focused on advising efforts that emphasize recruitment and retention. Lastly, attendees will be provided time to share their own events, ideas, etc. and gain actionable strategies that build a stronger administrative advising culture that they can bring back for implementation at their own institution. |
