Abstract:
|
As Military-Affiliated Student (MAS) populations grow, academic advisors face challenges when integrating military cultural understanding into advising philosophies. With additional training and resources, advisors can operationalize NACADA's Core Competencies to better serve students.
This session introduces Green Zone not as training, but as an advising framework with lasting impact. This advising model translates military cultural knowledge into an inclusive, student-centered advising approach, while strengthening collaboration with campus partners and increasing advisor confidence in supporting MAS populations.
Survey data reviewed post training demonstrates increased advisor confidence, improved understanding of benefits, and measurable growth in intentional advising behaviors.
Participants will explore framework development, implementation, assessment design, and transferability of Green Zone. Attendees will leave with a roadmap for developing Green Zone and deeper appreciation for MAS populations. |
