Abstract:
|
Get Your Ducks in a Row: Helping Students Make Decisions Every Day.
Every day students need to make decisions. Some are inconsequential, while others have large, long-term impacts. Students come to advisors with a variety of expectations on how we will support them in decision-making: some want to be told what decision they should make; others may simply want to know the options; still others may flounder with an unwillingness to decide. By sharing a variety of decision-making processes and discussing how advisors can engage students in them, we will practice tools and develop skills that will help advisors support students in making decisions every day. Time will be devoted to self-imposed barriers and how to help students overcome them, thus helping navigate complicated decision-making and developing a necessary life skill |
