Abstract:
|
In an AI-driven era, advisors must transition from information-givers to developmental advising. This poster presents a diagnostic framework combining Identity Status Theory and Social Support Theory to address the diverse needs of Gen Z and first-generation students. By assessing exploration and commitment levels, advisors can identify four student statuses: Diffusion, Foreclosure, Moratorium, and Achievement. The presentation visualizes a differentiated intervention matrix, matching specific psychological needs with tailored questioning techniques from Motivational Interviewing and Appreciative Advising. Attendees will engage with the presenter to discuss real-world applications of the 'Questioning Toolkit' designed to foster student self-authorship. This session highlights how human-centered advising provides essential emotional and cognitive support that AI tools cannot replicate, offering a practical roadmap for intentional interdisciplinary learning. |
