Abstract:
|
I-Ching is the oldest and most important Chinese classic that is a foundational source for both Taoist and Confucianist thoughts. Its profound wisdom can be used to understand the depths of human mind, especially subconscious mind. The session will start with a guided meditation to engage our intuitive mind, followed by introduction to how I-Ching trigrams and hexagrams are generated. We will then use the I-Ching system to demonstrate how to map hidden dynamics, processes, and patterns of our subconscious mind, and use its power to guide us to make more informed decisions. We will explore ways to apply the wisdom of I-Ching for transformative advising that is student-centered, identity-based, growth-oriented, and holistic. We will conclude the session with epistemological and pedagogical implications for advising practice that empowers students, promotes meta-cognitive development, and facilitates self-authorship. |
