Abstract:
|
This session explores a structured advising approach designed to improve outcomes for students on academic probation or suspension. It presents a semester-long model that combines required academic check-in campaigns, recurring advising meetings, an academic recovery contract, and scaffolded advising conversations. Using advising technology to compare students who attended required check-ins with those who did not across multiple terms, the model demonstrates measurable improvements in cumulative GPA, term GPA, credit completion, and persistence. Participants will learn how intentional advising structures and consistent assessment can shift probation and suspension advising from a single compliance meeting to a proactive, relational, and measurable student success intervention. Audience participation will include guided discussion and application planning. The intended audience includes advisors, advising leaders, and student success professionals. |
