What's Your Relationship Status?
Have you ever thought about the type of relationship (not advising approach) you have with your advisees? During a qualitative study assessing the advisor-advisee relationship as it relates to Black Student Success at PWIs, participants described five different relationship types they experienced with their advisors and how those relationships contributed to their success to graduation and at the school in general. What type of date have you been? Take an exploration of each relationship type and see if you need to update your relationship status. Through hands-on activities and group discussion, learn practical ways to improve your relationship with your students that will lead to retention and timely graduation. |
