Abstract:
|
On many college campuses, the physical and ideological siloing of student support services is a transitional challenge both students and student affairs professionals face. For students with disabilities, these challenges are intensified as they navigate the additional responsibilities of self-disclosure and seeking accommodations. As disclosure rates continue to skyrocket, cross-departmental collaboration grounded in holistic advising is crucial in breaking down those silos to improve our students' sense of belonging. Join us to learn how our disability services and academic advising offices collaborate to promote access and belonging for our students with disabilities. In this interactive session, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences and leave with practical, small-scale strategies for building effective partnerships as advising professionals navigating campus ecosystems. |
