Abstract:
|
Mid-level academic advising professionals occupy a critical yet often misunderstood space within higher education. Positioned between entry-level advising roles and senior leadership, these practitioners bring deep institutional knowledge, refined advising practice, and a sustained commitment to student success. Yet, despite their value, mid-level advisors frequently face limited visibility, constrained career advancement pathways, and persistent stigma associated with career movement-whether within the same institution or to new colleges or universities to pursue professional growth. Through a panel format featuring experienced advising professionals who have navigated internal role changes and cross-institutional transitions, this session will examine how advisors can pursue purposeful career movement while maintaining professional identity, institutional commitment, and long-term engagement in the field. |
