Abstract:
|
Have you ever found yourself in the center of a complex and traumatic student situation and have had trouble shaking it off at the end of the day? If so, then this session is for you. In this presentation, Advising and Counseling offices have partnered to help you learn the signs and identify instances when you have experienced vicarious trauma - the phenomenon that can occur when we are exposed to the traumatic experiences of our students. We will share heart-felt stories of second-hand grief and loss. You will have the opportunity to build a support network of like-minded peers. And finally, we will arm you with tools to combat vicarious trauma, so that you can go home to be a happier, healthier helper. |
