Abstract:
|
A recent campus-wide directive required every undergraduate student to be assigned a professional (staff) academic advisor. Without a centralized roadmap, our unit navigated a complete structural overhaul to meet this mandate by redistributing upper division faculty advising. This session explores the journey of building a 'full life cycle' staff only advising program for health and human service majors. Presenters will: detail the selection of our advising framework, review the implementation of rigorous staff training, share best practice for maintaining faculty/advisor collaboration and lessons learned from the process. Attendees will gain a blueprint for managing rapid institutional change and practical lessons for scaling professional advising in decentralized environments. |
