Abstract:
|
In the academic advising world, there are two separate, but equally important groups: the students who arrive with questions, uncertainty, and transition; and the advisors who guide them through each shift, challenge, and milestone. These are their stories.
Transitions are part of the student experience, and advisors are uniquely positioned to support them through changes. Navigating change can feel like a complex case full of clues, shifting circumstances, and important turning points. William Bridges' Transition Model and Schlossberg's Transition Theory provide frameworks for understanding and managing transitions.
Through the Appreciative Advising lens, advisors can help students leverage their experiences and strengths through transition. Come explore how advisors can step into the role of investigator-supporting students through each phase of transition as they work to solve the case and chart their path to success. |
