Abstract:
|
Fully online adult learners navigate complex intersections of work, family, and academic commitments, requiring advising approaches grounded in both adult learning theories and flexible institutional structures. This session explores how integrating adult learning principles with a centralized undergraduate online advising model can meaningfully enhance student success, persistence, and engagement in fully-online programs. Presenters will examine the lived experiences of adult learners, highlight advising strategies aligned with andragogy and self-directed learning, and showcase how intentional coordination between a single office that serves online and adult learners creates a seamless support ecosystem. Advisors will leave with practical, theory-informed strategies to elevate outcomes for online adult learners, regardless of institutional structures. |
