Sandwich Leaders: Navigating between Upper Administration and Advisors
You've heard about the sandwich generation, but what about sandwich leaders? Sandwich leaders occupy that middle space between the on-the-ground advising community and the institution's upper administration. We are constantly mediating, translating, and advocating between these two layers. Depending on the situation, we're seen as one or the other--one of 'us advisors' or one of 'those administrators.' In reality, we're both, and we serve a crucial function of holding the whole sandwich together. Our panel represents a wide range of institutions and leadership positions, all at that sandwich level. Come listen, ask, and talk with us about strategies in communication, relationship building, interpreting, and advocating so that you, too, can be that delicious sticky filling that makes the whole sandwich work. |
