Abstract:
|
Academic advisors ask meaningful questions about student decision-making and success, yet many see research as work intended for faculty. This Hot Topic interactive workshop helps advisors view their daily practice as a starting point for scholarly inquiry. Through guided reflection, paired discussion, and a hands-on question-building activity, participants will identify researchable questions grounded in their own advising work. Presenters will introduce the practitioner-scholar mindset, a simple approach for moving from practice to inquiry, and accessible ways to share work from assessment projects to conference presentations. No research experience is required. Participants will leave with a clear, manageable first step for exploring their questions and engaging in scholarly work. |
