Abstract:
|
Academic advisors are natural problem solvers-skilled at diagnosing challenges, creating plans, and finding resolutions. Generation Alpha students ask for more: they don't want just answers; they want to be heard. Empathy can be the bridge that connects generations, transforming advising from transactional to transformational. This interactive session invites participants to explore what it means to respond with empathy rather than react with solutions. Through hands-on activities and reflective discussions, participants will discover repeatable, practical strategies to apply in advising appointments, first-year experience courses, and living-learning communities to foster stronger, more authentic student connections. |
