Advising Connections: Faculty Advisors, Student Affairs, and the Power of the Middle
Professional programs are rigorous and structured, yet students often experience them as anything but linear. Between faculty advising, clinical programs, academic affairs, and student affairs, important moments can fall into the gaps. Through real-life scenarios from professional education settings, this session highlights the power of advisors and advising-adjacent professionals working collaboratively to transform the 'middle' from a place of uncertainty into a space of meaningful campus connection.
We explore how leadership initiatives, peer mentorship, Lunch & Learns, study groups, and individualized success planning empower students to craft their own educational journeys. By aligning institutional resources with student goals, advisors move beyond transactional course guidance toward intentional professional formation.
Participants will leave with practical strategies to strengthen collaboration, close advising gaps, and turn complexity into connection. |
