Abstract:
|
Academic advisors in the College of Engineering at [Name of University] developed Professional Academic Coaching for Engineers (PACE) to support students on academic warning, probation, or returning from suspension. With historically more than 18% of engineering students classified as academically at risk, a proactive, structured intervention was necessary. PACE integrates evidence-based strategies, including intrusive advising, tutoring, supplemental instruction, peer mentoring, and professional development, to address academic, personal, and career-related barriers affecting persistence and graduation.
Since its launch in 2021, the percentage of at-risk students has decreased by five percentage points. This presentation outlines the program's development through shared governance, implementation strategies, and assessment results. Attendees will examine qualitative and quantitative outcomes, learn how continuous improvement informed new pilot initiatives, and identify actionable strategies to strengthen student success efforts at their own institutions. |
