Abstract:

In our rapidly shifting higher education landscape, advisor turnover is directly linked to onboarding. Advisor onboarding must do more than deliver information-it must cultivate skill, adaptability, and a sense of belonging from the first day of work. This session shares how three advising professionals, with distinct advising approaches, years of experience, and position types, collaborated to build a unified onboarding model despite their differences. With a shoestring budget and in response to a notable need for improvement, the presenters developed an approach centered on connection, growth, and readiness for change, aiming to be sustainable and scalable for the future. |
