Abstract:
|
Imagine if creativity and innovation were the core concepts of the advising profession. This session combines a creativity activity (fiber arts welcome!) with an exploration of how artistic approaches might alter our perceptions of the advising profession. Creativity can be a catalyst for mindfulness, self-care, connection, and innovation in our work with students and colleagues. Artistic pursuits, concepts, and expression can foster connections and community within advisors' spheres of influence. Advisors will analyze how personal passions and strategic approaches can improve their professional practices and empower others by bringing together creative minds to generate innovative solutions to complex issues. Examples connecting art and advising and the creative activity will lead into an interactive discussion on how artistic creativity can spark innovation in how we interpret, communicate, and engage with students and the profession. |
