Abstract:
|
When was the last time you sat at a classroom desk? Student development theories do not always cover the specific course content that our students learn in their majors. Attendees will be encouraged to enhance relationships with students and professional development by engaging in a defining space in higher education: the classroom. Three avenues for classroom engagement will be compared and contrasted. Attendees will be encouraged to think critically about their own experiences in the classroom, how it impacts their student support practices, and which collaborators might emerge across campus through classroom engagement. Finally, attendees will leave the session with individualized reflection on how classroom engagement could impact their understanding of the student experience in the 2020s as well as a map for which engagement avenue fits within their professional journey. |
