Abstract:
|
This moderated panel explores how a large, public research university has partnered with a local state college to build a cohort-based transfer pathway program that expands access. As part of a growing, national alliance of institutes of higher education, program funding was provided to expand access and opportunity for talented, primarily low-income students seeking to transfer to four-year institutions with high Pell Grant student graduation rates. Panelists are navigating different institutional cultures, enrollment timelines, and structures by building student support systems across both institutions. Typically, transfer students have more academic and integration challenges than direct-admit students and must figure out where their support systems are after transferring, which can hinder their success. The panel provides an opportunity to engage in discussion with panelists about how they have worked to more effectively to support transfer students. |
