Abstract:
|
Rapid enrollment growth can put a strain on advising systems, disrupt consistency in service, and jeopardize student retention. This session presents a governance-based framework for scaling advising operations responsibly during periods of significant enrollment increases, while maintaining high service quality.
Participants will explore a multi-layered approach that includes standardized operating procedures (SOPs), structured onboarding and mentorship, lifecycle-based caseload alignment, and a continuous quality assurance model that incorporates student feedback into advisor development. Rather than focusing solely on reactive hiring, this model emphasizes accountability, clear processes, and proactive engagement to preserve the integrity of student retention.
Designed for advising administrators and leaders, this lecture/discussion format includes a practical 'scale-up readiness' assessment tool. Attendees will participate in an evaluative exercise to identify potential weaknesses within their own advising structures, leaving the session with actionable strategies to strengthen their infrastructure before expansion begins. |
