Abstract:
|
When advising, student success, financial aid, and wellness units operate in silos, students-especially those with the greatest financial need-experience awareness gaps, inequitable outcomes, and reduced belonging. Drawing on Tyton Partners' Driving Toward a Degree 2023 findings, this session examines how fragmented coordination contributes to these disparities and how institutions can respond. Grounded in NACADA's relational, informational, and conceptual competencies, presenters will share one institution's cross-'functional efforts, including shared advising structures, integrated financial aid-advising workflows, and a collaborative cross-'training model designed to improve staff confidence and proactive outreach. Participants will engage in a guided collaborative audit to identify alignment gaps on their own campuses and leave with strategies for coordinated communications, shared data use, and sustainable partnerships that strengthen persistence and equity for underserved student populations. |
